Mind and Destiny

"It is our duty, all of us, everyone who cares to reverse the national decline of our knowledge and understanding of history, and to renew a true appreciation of this great country, why it became great and what will keep it so." -- Sen. Robert Byrd

Ministry of Hate

Senator McCain sought the endorsement of Pastor John Hagee and said that he was “honored” and “proud” to receive Hagee’s support. Pastor Hagee claimed God created Hurricane Katrina to punish New Orleans for its homosexual “sins,” Jews are to blame for anti-Semitism, and Catholicism is “a cult” and the “Whore of Babylon.”

Another McCain supporter Rev. Rod Parsley, a televangelist megachurch pastor from Ohio hates Islam.  Rev. Parsley has called on Christians to wage war against Islam, which he considers to be a “false religion.”  In the past, Parsley has spoken out against the separation of church and state, homosexuals, and abortion rights, by comparing Planned Parenthood to Nazis.

John McCain actively sought and received Parsley’s endorsement in the presidential race. He has called Parsley “a spiritual guide,” but hasn’t said whether he shares Parsley’s vicious anti-Islam views.  That’s because the mainstream media refuses to question McCain about his deeply bigoted pastor. McCain has aligning himself with a religious leader who’s called for an all-out war against Islam. It appears that McCain doesn’t draw a distinctions between Muslims and violent Islamic extremists.

The mainstream media vociferously labeled Rev. Wright’s remarks hateful, but never specifically explains why those remarks deserved that description. The reason for this is that, in fact, Rev. Wright is a man of peace and reconciliation. Peace and reconciliation doesn’t make headlines like shock and awe or death and destruction.

Bill O’Reilly insists that he feels sorry for Barack Obama, because his campaign has been derailed by some “loony guy.” O’Reilly was referring to Rev. Wright, who suggested our government brought the September 11 attacks upon itself. Another, “looney guy”, Michael Scheuer author of “Imperial Hubris” and the former head of the bin Laden unit agreed with Rev. Wright. He wrote: “It’s about the impact of our policies in the Islamic world. And because we won’t talk about that here in America, we’re not adequately defended.”

Perhaps, the “looney” guys are Bill O’Reilly, Rod Parsley and John Hagee.
