War Propoganda
Although, increasing numbers of American are opposed to the continuation of the war in Iraq, members of Congress are refusing to take decisive steps to halt the occupation.
Iran and Iraq have never been a real threat to the security of the American people and most members of Congress are pretending that the occupation of Iraq has nothing to do with it’s oil reserves. They never make mention of oil, but it’s obvious that were it not for oil, our military-industrial complex would have little interest in the region or its people. Apparently, both political parties believe that controlling the oil reserves, of the Middle East is a valid reason to invade other nations and engage in wars of aggression.
We have lost the war in Iraq and continuating the occupation is about preserving our “national masculinity.” This machismo is the ideology of gangsters and that is exactly what our imperialistic military has become.
Our next president may continue to pander to the military-industrial complex, in order to, avoid being labeled weak on defense or as not supporting the troops. Through a combination of public apathy and fear mongering by the military industrial complex, both parties have been corrupted.
The military-industrial complex has gotten so big that those who make it run day to day in industry and government simply are perpetuating their own existence.
Republican congressman and presidential candidate, Ron Paul said: “The thought that the Iranians could pose an imminent attack on the United States is preposterous. This is just continued war propaganda, preparing this nation to go to war and spread this war not only in Iraq, but into Iran, unconstitutionally. It is a road to disaster for us as a nation. It’s a road to financial disaster if we don’t read the Constitution once in a while.”
