Rock the Boat
John Edwards has said: “It’s the establishment elite versus the American people. Instead of serving the people and the nation, too many politicians play the game of trading favors and campaign money, influencing votes and compromising legislation. It’s a game that never ends and it’s time to end the game.”
We’ve seen lobbyists throwing cash at the politicians and heard politicians walk away from their promises. Nobody has calls them on it, because there is a go-along-to-get-along rule in Washington, D.C.
John Edwards would like us to join him in making waves, because the establishment doesn’t like it that he’s rocking their boat. He has called on all Democratic politicians to reject contributions from federal lobbyists.
It’s time for the Democrats in Congress to tell the big corporation lobbyists, who have been running things for too long that it’s over. It’s time to challenge our politicians to put the American people’s interests ahead of their own calculated political interests, and say no to lobbyists.
We must reform the Democratic party and make it the party of the people. Thereby, we’ll expose for all time who the Republicans in Washington are really working for.
The American people deserve to know that their presidency is not for sale, the Lincoln bedroom is not for rent, and that lobbyist money can no longer influence policy in the House or the Senate.
We need real change in America. We deserve universal health care, a halt to global warming and an end to the war in Iraq. However, before those changes can occur, we have to fix the broken system in Washington.
It’s time to be counted, and fight for what we believe. Start writing letters to the editor of your local newspaper and letters or e-mails to your representative in Congress.
