Its contacts run deep inside the military and intelligence agencies and is considered the elite Praetorian Guard for the “global war on terror.” It has the largest private military base in the world, with a fleet of 20 aircraft and 20,000 soldiers at the ready. Its forces are capable of overthrowing governments, and yet most Americans have never heard of Blackwater.
In January, it was a Blackwater helicopter that was downed in Baghdad, killing five civilians, and back in 2004, four Blackwater employees were ambushed and hung from that bridge in Fallujah.
