Purged with Blood
On the day John Brown was hung, he wrote: "I am now quite certain that the crimes of this guilty land will never be purged away but with blood. I had, as I now think, vainly flattered myself that without very much bloodshed it might be done."
During our Civil War, France and England considered entering the war on the side of the Confederacy, because their textile mills needed cotton. Wisely, they stayed out of our struggle.
We invaded Iraq for oil, and we’ve become trapped in a quagmire, which has cost over 3,100 American lives and a trillion dollars.
A thousand Iraqis are being slaughter ever month in a civil war. Both sides are responsible for the tortured and beheaded bodies that are being found in Baghdad. Some Iraqi security forces are participating in the death squads.
Bush refuses to acknowledge that the sectarian violence in Iraq is a civil war, because he’s playing politics and has no intention of getting us out. There hasn’t been a single thing about Iraq that Bush has been right about.
Iraqis are going to continue killing each other regardless of what our military does. It’s not just a small percentage of al Qaeda doing the killing. Shia are killing Sunnis, and the Sunnis are killing Shia and Kurds. Our troops remain sitting ducks on a pond as they continue to be used as gangsters for capitalism.
We will not see the Iraqis stand together, while our troops are in Iraq. We have arm and trained 400,000 Iraqis, who are not about to stand up, so our troops can stand down.
We vainly flattered ourselves that our military can bring peace. It would be wise to begin redeploying our troops out of Iraq immediately and allow them to purge their land with Iraqi blood.
